NEVAAA - Area Agency on Aging

To ensure that seniors receiving Meals on Wheels in the Northeast Kingdom can also request additional support to care for their companion animals NEVAAA established the Meals for Pets program in 2009 with a grant from the Banfield Charitable trust and Meals on Wheels Association of America.

Banfield Charitable Trust

The Banfield Charitable Trust, a 501c3 organization committed to “treating pets like family”  along with MOWAA supports organizations seeking to develop local pet food delivery programs. The Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Vermont has received Three $1000 grant awards that have been essential to the development of the Meals to Pets program founded in 2009 to serve homebound seniors in Caledonia, Essex and Orleans Counties of Vermont.

Frontier Animal Society of Vermont

The Frontier Animal Society has been a strong supporter of the Meals to Pet program, through outreach, education and reduced rates for Seniors seeking to adopt a pet.

The Kingdom Animal Shelter has also been an essential partner offering support for the Meals to Pets program and assisting Seniors seeking to adopt the special companion animal they are seeking.

When this national organization learned that some meals on wheels recipients  would were sharing meals with their pets they teamed up with the Banfield Charitable Trust Foundation to offer grants to support the development of Meals to Pets programs across the country.

Elizabeth H. Brown Humane Society

The E.H. Brown Humane Society played an essential role in supporting the formation of the Meals to Pets program with an initial pet food donation and ongoing support for the needs of Companion Animals in Northeastern Vermont.
